131 - Dìdi REVIEW! A painfully relatable journey
In this episode we talk about the censorship of Japanese anime, as well as some teasers for the upcoming Netflix anime titles Devil May Cry and Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. We also look at a teaser for a hypothetical second season of Scavengers Reign, before going on to do a mini-review of Grafted (2024), a New Zealand indie horror film in the same vein as The Substance.
But the main review for this week is Dìdi (2024), an American coming-of-age comedy drama film about an impressionable 13-year-old Taiwanese American boy who learns what his family can't teach him: how to skate, how to flirt, and how to love his mum.
Were our apprehensions about this film unfounded? Is it time for Japan to finally get woke? Let's discuss.
